Run by the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU), UKOSS is a UK-wide surveillance system for rare disorders of pregnancy.
Its aims are to:
- describe the epidemiology of uncommon obstetric conditions
- reduce duplication of reporting burden on clinicians by centralising surveillance enable descriptive, cohort or case–control studies
- use findings to inform prevention, treatment, service planning, and rapid response to emerging maternal health threats
UKOSS publishes results, newsletters, infographics, and annual reports, supporting clinicians, researchers, and maternity services to understand, monitor, and improve outcomes for rare but serious maternal conditions.
